Concrete Carpenter Job Description
*Candidates are required to be US Citizens or Permanent Lawful residents of the US. Yerbey Concrete is a drug free workplace. Candidates will be required to submit for a pre-employment drug and background screen.
Construct, erect, install, concrete forms; building frameworks;
Measure and mark lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
Possess the skill required to construct and install block outs per drawings
Able to install embedded angles, plates, bolts and other anchors to formwork prior
to placing concrete
Able as needed to position and tie reinforcing steel in footings, wall forms and
flat slab placements
Ability to install keyway, water stops and waterproofing materials in footings and
formwork
Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines,
or power saw.
Understand blueprints, sketches or building plans to determine dimensions and
materials required for form, or framing, construction
Assemble and fasten materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails,
dowel pins, or glue.
Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
Select and order lumber and other required materials.
Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean
environment
Job Requirements
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings or other structures, foundations and framing.
Knowledge of arithmetic, basic geometry, and their applications to carpentry.
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective installations of concrete formwork, shoring, anchor bolts, embedded items, water stops and keyways.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including uses, repair, and maintenance associated with carpentry and woodworking.
Knowledge of basic building layout and leveling, grades and benchmarks.
Ability to accurately measure lengths with ruler or tape.
Basic blueprint reading
Safe use of power tools such as saws, drills, planes, sanders, routers and grinders.
Basic understanding and use of a builders level for setting grades.
The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
The ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb ladders and stairs, lift and carry materials in association with carpentry activities
Ability to work skillfully with both hands constantly, independently safely lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds routinely, 50 pounds occasionally, climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffold, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, twist, finger, grasp and feel on a constant and repetitive basis, stand,
walk, talk, see, hear within normal range and perform repetitive motion activities. Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions including excessive heat and cold, noise, vibrations, dust, fumes, oils, wear a portable respirator. Ability to work the schedule required by job demands. Ability to physically negotiate the hazards of a new construction worksite, e.g., uneven surfaces, floor openings, heights, construction debris and poor lighting.
