Iron Worker Job Description

Unload and carry materials at construction sites

Position and secure steel bars or mesh in concrete forms to reinforce concrete.

Erect concrete forms and scaffolding

Use a variety of rod-bending machines, fasteners, blowtorches, and hand tools.

Determine quantities, sizes, shapes, and locates of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions.

Must be willing to complete manual labor.

Conduct work with 100% integrity and professionalism.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

3-5 years of experience as professional rod buster.

Ability to receive written or oral instructions.

Establish and maintain effective working relationship with field and office personnel.

Must be committed to contributing to a culture of safety, looking out for yourself and others.

Physical Requirements:

Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.

Must have good hand-eye coordination, quick reaction times.

Able to work in confined or enclosed spaces.

Able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots.

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.

2 years experience in construction
